There are many video sites on web and more are being set up everyday. People often publish videos about themselves or interesting things that they come across. These sites that allow people to publish videos for free include YouTube, Google videos, Break, BlipTV, iFilm, Putfile, and so on. Some sites are devoted to convinced themes while others are for any genre.

If you were to come crosswise a nice clip and wants to download streaming video from these sites. There on the whole 2 steps and rather 2 things you need to know. First is how to download it and the second is the format of the downloaded clip and how to watch it on your PC.

In order to download streaming video, first take note of the URL of the video. For example, for YouTube videos, the URL will look something like this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=zzzzzzzzz. Copy this URL and go to keepvid.com, paste the URL and click on 'Download'. After a while, a download link will come into view and you may download the file.

Kindly note that if you download streaming video using the site mentioned, the downloaded file has the extension zzz.htm. Just rename the file to zzz.flv. Notice that the file format is in fly, which means that you cannot use your regular video players like Windows Media Player to watch it. You have to obtain an FLV player. There are many free FLV players on the web, just do a search and you should have no problem finding one.
