Get a small container.  It can be a metal can.  I also cut the vegetable oil bottles that are plastic in half and use those.

 Take the seed from an avocado.  Then put 3 or 4 toothpicks in it.  Fill the can or plastic bottle with water.  Suspend the avocado seed in the water.  Half the seed should be sticking up above the water and half under.  Put the pointed end of the avocado up.

 The seed will start to crack and you will see a sprout coming out.  This can take a few weeks.

 In 4 to 6 years you will have fresh avocados year round from your tree!

Thanks for that! I absolutely love avocados!

I'm about to start buying miniature fruit trees so I can have a whole orchid in huge pots. I just wish they didn't take so long to grow - I'm pretty impatient!
